چکیده

ABSTRACT In previous work, a periodic surface model for computeraided nano-design (CAND) was developed. This implicit surface model can construct Euclidean and hyperbolic nano geometries parametrically and represent morphologies of particle aggregates and polymers. In this paper, we study the characteristics of degree elevation and reduction based on a generalized periodic surface model. Methods of degree elevation and reduction operations are developed in order to support multi-resolution representation and model exchange.

Degree Elevation and Reduction of Periodic Surfaces

Recently we developed a periodic surface model to assist the construction of nano structures parametrically for computer-aided nano-design. In this paper, we study the properties of periodic surfaces for degree elevation and reduction. Degree elevation approaches are developed to incrementally increase shape complexities, including native, variational, and boundary constrained elevations. A gen...

Stable Gait Planning and Robustness Analysis of a Biped Robot with One Degree of Underactuation

In this paper, stability analysis of walking gaits and robustness analysis are developed for a five-link and four-actuator biped robot. Stability conditions are derived by studying unactuated dynamics and using the Poincaré map associated with periodic walking gaits. A stable gait is designed by an optimization process satisfying physical constraints and stability conditions. Also, considering...

The Crystallography of the Hyperbolic Plane and Infinite Periodic Minimal Surfaces

Infinite periodic minimal surfaces are being now introduced to describe some complex structures with large cells, formed by inorganic and organic materials, which can be considered as crystals of surfaces or films. Among them are the spectacular cubic liquid crystalline structures built by amphiphilic molecules in presence of water. We study here the crystallographic properties of these surface...

A Software for Prediction of Periodic Response of Non-linear Multi Degree of Freedom Rotors Based on Harmonic Balances

It is the purpose of this paper to introduce a computer software that is developed for the analysis of general multi degree of freedom rotor bearing systems with non-linear support elements. A numerical-analytical method for the prediction of steady state periodic response of large order nonlinear rotor dynamic systems is addressed which is based on the harmonic balance technique. By utilizing ...

Analytical Analysis of The Dual-phase-lag Heat Transfer Equation in a Finite Slab with Periodic Surface Heat Flux (RESEARCH NOTE)

This work uses the dual-phase-lag (DPL) model of heat conduction to demonstrate the effect of temperature gradient relaxation time on the result of non-Fourier hyperbolic conduction in a finite slab subjected to a periodic thermal disturbance. DPL model combines the wave features of hyperbolic conduction with a diffusion-like feature of the evidence not captured by the hyperbolic case. For the ...
